The connection between fire and grasses is complex and interdependent. Fire has played a major role in the historical and contemporary success of grasses, and they have, in turn, fuelled the most frequent fire regimes on Earth. In this talk, I’ll discuss my research on this bi-directional relationship: how grasses influence fire behaviour through their traits, and how fire regime determines grass traits at community-to-global scales.
