The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is an independent body with about 140 member countries. IPBES is currently developing the first global assessment on Invasive Species and their Control. The aim of this presentation is to highlight the collaborative process underpinning the IPBES invasive species assessment and the lessons learned. I focus my discussion on how a very diverse group of researchers has been able to conduct such assessment and how this has been a learning experience for all involved. I also discuss the steps forward after the expected approval of the assessment in September 2023.
