I am currently a PhD candidate at McGill University in Montreal Canada and hold an MSc from Imperial College in London. I have a passion for all things marine ecology related and am particularly interested in bridging the gap between science and society, whether that be through policy or community engagement. My current work focuses on developing methods to monitor ecosystem services in Canada in order to answer the growing need to reporting on the state of nature and the benefits that societies derive from it. This work is particuarly relevant to the efforts of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity Global Biodiversity Monitoring Framework and the United Nations Syste of Envrionmental Economic Accounting Ecosystem Accounts. Specifically, my focus is on the ecosystem services provided by wild salmon species in the West Coast of Canada and understanding how we might use essential variables and monitoring techniques to support local, national and global reporting.
