Project Manager of Restoration for the Rio Grande Valley
American Forests
I am the Project Manager of Restoration in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas (LRGV) and work for American Forests. I'm a seed collector and collect seeds from the 30+ thornforest species that are used to restore the LRGV thornforests. From tracking the phenology of plants and scouting to determine the best collection times to collecting, processing, and storing seeds, this is what a day in my job consists of. As a biologist, I also conduct research on the viability of thornforest seeds, track phenologies of different species, and monitor the survivorship of seedlings after planting.
I graduated from The University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley with a master’s degree in biology, where I focused on conducting research that addresses global change issues such as climate and land use change to contribute to conserving endangered species of the Rio Grande Valley and Mexico. I have skills in geographic information systems (GIS) and species distribution modeling.
I love seeds, endangered species, and restoration research!
