My dissertation research explores how a novel theory could be applied in my study system, sagebrush steppe habitat. While researching if genetic mechanisms in the foundation species big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata spp.) influence dependent communities of bacteria, fungi, and arthropods, I was also learning how to assemble a diverse team of scientists to help me in this pursuit. This presentation explores the parallels between community genetic interactions and the interdisciplinary synergism required to study them.
