INS 7-3 - Delivering Forest Service Research to Land Managers

Ecologists can work as land managers or as research scientists, but they can also work at the interface of research and management. The USDA Forest Service management and research branches split at the top levels of the agency. The research branch employs Science Delivery Specialists to catalyze knowledge exchange between managers and scientists and increase awareness and use at all levels of the agency. Eight years after graduating with an MS in organismal ecology, I returned for a PhD in the science of science delivery, studying organizational and individual influences on the use of fire science. This is meaningful work!
