INS 6-5 - Dunes, Death and Identity: weathering grad school when you barely know who you are

Since my father passed away 5 years ago, I have been left to navigate three academic institutions not built for Latine people like myself. Throughout my academic journey, I have grappled with my own identity. I have tried hiding, fighting, DEI committees, striking, and much more. The one thing that has become clear, as my father passed down a strong sense of duty, is that I have to try and make it better for the next generation of Latine ecologists. Join me as I share what has and has not worked to make academia less lonely for myself and others.
