Infinite Zion Farms Orlando, Florida, United States
Community-oriented research can connect the field of ecology to pressing social challenges. My organization, Infinite Zion Farm, fights against hunger and disease by providing urban areas with access to fresh produce and education. Located in an underserved Orlando neighborhood (Parramore), our South Street Farm produces a variety of crops and supports numerous community activities. Here, ecologists could conduct research on fundamental ecological questions in partnership with our farmers. Such work would provide insights for the field, help researchers engage with community challenges, and allow my organization to further our mission to increase food system resilience and representation for minority farmers.
