Session Description: This short course will focus on drawing maps and visualizing environmental data, using the statistics application R. Some topics to be covered in the workshop include: drawing maps with the R package "ggplot2"; visualizing environmental variables; handling spatial data with the R package "sf". This short course is intended to be of interest to those who have limited prior experience with R, as well as more experienced R users.
This short course aims to be useful and accessible for all ecologists. As a free, flexible, and powerful statistics application and programming language, R can facilitate collaboration between ecologists; R can also play an important part in the education of future ecologists. Using R for maps and spatial data can help make data analysis workflows clear and reproducible.
