Please join President Sharon Collinge and Council Speaker Lin Meng to discuss the state of ESA and the results of the Future Visioning Project, including how members like you can be involved.
ESA is its members. Community programs and activities are sustained and supported by hundreds of member-volunteers and leaders. The Future Visioning Project included input from dozens of these members; potentially hundreds more over several years—members of program committees, section and chapter chairs, Council representatives and Governing Board members—who will continue to be involved in creating a roadmap and strategic plan to realize the project’s goals and leading ESA into the future.
All members of our community are encouraged to read the report summary and the questions below prior to attending this town hall. https://www.esa.org/esa-future-visioning-project-outcomes-next-steps/
Leaders will roll out the key elements of the vision and invite feedback. Committee members and chairs will participate and answer questions about activities and service opportunities. Bring questions and ideas!
Questions to Consider Prior to the Town Hall • How large a tent can ESA support in a sincere and valuable way? • In what ways can (or does) ESA provide value unique to other professional organizations, especially for those that represent practitioner ecologists and related scientists? • How can we leverage increased public interest and the attentions of leaders in government and business to highlight ecology, raise awareness of its importance and continue our growth? • What will be the impact of the generational changes in education—from debt to career trajectories to research funding to professional pathways—on the pipeline of ecologists? • How does ESA fit into a world where ecological restoration, carbon mitigation and sequestration, ESG and other emergent opportunities are in demand?
