Retired Secondary Teacher
Formerly the Alabama School of Matnematics and Science
Mobile, Alabama, United States
I was born and raised in South Mississippi. Following my graduation from Louisiana State University with a master of natural science, I taught across the high school and undergraduate biology curriculum to students with diverse backgrounds, ranging in age from 13 to adult. Project-centered laboratory and field research experiences are my specialty. Additionally, I have carried out small contracts for biological exploration for a variety of federal, state, and private conservation organizations in pursuit of natural heritage goals. I have experience in scientific editing, having edited over 300 scientific publications and dissertations. With the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science, I organized and led twenty years of field research courses and nature-oriented road trips for teenaged students throughout the Southeast and beyond, including the Appalachian mountains, Florida, the Gulf Coast from the Rio Grande to Tampa, and western Washington. I am currently pursuing personal research projects on the ecology of pitcher plant savannas and other habitats of the northern Gulf Coast.
