I have a BSc in Marine Biology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a MSc in Marine Mammal Science from the University of St Andrews, Scotland. For my postgraduate dissertation, I used acoustic localization to explore the movement of sperm whales thought to be depredating long lines in the Norwegian Sea. Previously I worked as an acoustic analyst at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO) in Nova Scotia, classifying beaked whale and sperm whale click detections. I joined the passive acoustic research group in December 2020 and work on beaked whale and sperm whale detection, classification and localization, and as well as acoustic estimates of population and demographic composition for sperm whales.
