Research Technician
University of Arizona
I recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in natural resources with an emphasis in global change ecology and management and a certificate in geographic information systems. This summer, I have continued working in Dr. William Smith's Ecosystem Climate Dynamics Lab as a research technician at a long-term rainfall manipulation experimental site on the Santa Rita Experimental Range, namely RainManSR. I have two primary responsibilities in this position: 1) assist with and help lead the collection of numerous ecological and hydrological datasets during the summer field campaign, and 2) work on a manuscript that focuses on the shifting seasonal abiotic controls of soil respiration in the Sonoran desert using RainManSR data. Later this month, I will begin my Ph.D. journey at Northern Arizona University in the Center for Ecosystem Science and Society (ECOSS) with Dr. Andrew Richardson. My Ph.D. research will focus on better understanding the impacts of climate and weather extremes on the phenology of vegetation in the Chihuahuan desert. I feel immensely lucky to be in this position, and look forward to embarking on the next step in my career!
