Cumberland Piedmont Network at Mammoth Cave National Park
The Cumberland Piedmont Network (CUPN) partakes in a plethora of research-related projects involving continuous monitoring of natural resources. Based at Mammoth Cave National Park (MACA), the CUPN includes 14 National Parks and assists with everything from monitoring water quality to estimating cave cricket populations. Scientist in Parks interns contribute to field data collection, data entry, and categorization at MACA. Other projects at CUPN include managing an 18-park aquatic insect collection which required identification, labeling, mapping, and cataloging to be used for future research. This hands-on experience is unmatched in breadth and excitement.
