INS 21-2 - The complementarities of indigenous science and settler science
Speaker University of British Columbia Kaleden, British Columbia, Canada
Finding a common ground is vital with respect to strengthening the relationships of Indigenous and non-Indigenous approaches to environmental practises. With the increased pressures of building collaborative frameworks for working together as Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, this presentation will explore and provide insight into the more holistic approaches that have been addressed in Settler sciences (systems thinking and complexity sciences), and how Indigenous sciences have practised these concepts from time immemorial. Based on research in the southern interior of British Columbia Canada, this presentation will share some of the complementarities between these two holistic sciences.
