Session: : Traditional Ecological Knowledge - Indigenous Ecologists Share Their Work in the Intersection of Indigenous and Western Understandings of the Natural World
A growing number of tribal governments and other Indigenous-led entities are formalizing plans to adapt to a changing climate and its rippling effects. This work analyzes 45 climate resilience plans throughout the US, and it examines the characteristics of Indigenous-led plans. Here we summarize the forms of knowledge presented in Indigenous-led climate resilience plans, the unique threats to Indigenous communities that they intend to address, and how their topics are interwoven to create and synthesize scientific narratives that are responsive to the values and priorities of Indigenous communities throughout the US.
