INS 21-7 - Knowledge co-creation for salmon conservation and management
Graduate Student University of Toronto Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Pacific salmon are the backbone of coastal communities, inspiring art, centered in ceremony and feeding people and are non-human relatives. My PhD research focuses on finding ecologically and socially- just solutions for salmon conservation and management by co-producing knowledge with partners from coastal First Nations, local NGOs and Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Here, I will share stories and lessons from this journey and challenges and opportunities moving forward.
