Talent Management USDA Forest Service, United States
Like many graduate students, I aspired to pursue a post-doctorate, become a researcher, and teach. However, the job market reality at the time required me to consider other options, including non-profit, state, and federal jobs. I applied for a vacancy and became a botanist with the Forest Service. My career as a resource specialist has been fulfilling. I had the opportunity to apply knowledge in the field and identify research questions to support land management practices. My 20-year career as an ecologist has consisted of being a practitioner, natural resource manager, project manager, program manager, policy maker, and talent manager.
