The rapidly changing world we currently live in requires a far broader role and suite of skills than I ever imagined when I finished my undergraduate degree in the late 1990s. Over the years, my experience as an ecologist with the Forest Service has included diverse roles focused not only on research, but also communication and science delivery to inform policy and decision making. While the role of translating science remains one of the biggest challenges in my career, it also provides an important opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with colleagues and provide impactful science.
