Latin American ecologists who reside in the United States are uniquely positioned to facilitate knowledge transfer across borders. Most of us lived in our country of birth and completed at least part of our college education there. Knowledge of the scientific communities in our country of origin allows us to have direct contact with potential collaborators, have an excellent understanding of the location of relevant research sites, have a familiarity with natural history, and have a deep understanding and respect for our culture. Therefore, we must promote and facilitate international research collaborations. Examples of international collaboration will be provided.
